Any one tried the mini 3D train cake pan?
I’d like to make this cake for my son’s first birthday but I’m concerned that 1-Half of the cake will stick to the pan and I’ll lose all the detail, or 2-I’ll lose all the detail with the icing. Has anyone tried this and do you have any decorating ideas for me? Thanks!
You will love doing this cake so don’t be afraid. Most important is to grease the pan VERY well. If you’re still concerned, just to ease your mind a little, bake the cakes ahead of time, even a week if you can. Then, once they cool, if they came out okay, just wrap them up very well in plastic wrap and freeze them. Then just take them out the day before (morning), decorate that night once they’ve thawed. Do you have the insert that came with it? If not, just look the pic up online. Even if you lose a little detail, you won’t be able to tell once you frost it. Also, make sure to do a “crumb coat” before the main frosting and refridge it for about an hour or more. This keeps the crumbs out of the colored frosting and makes your cake that much prettier. Good luck. The first one’s the hardest. You’ll do great!

Let’s Go Everywhere (Dig) $13.99 Let’s Go Everywhere is the kind of record that kids-music insiders get all wound up about, and for a reason that can be summed up in two tidy little words: it’s awesome. Yes, when classifications must be made, Medeski Martin & Wood are sometimes thrown into the jazz genre. And yes, as musicians go, they’re a pretty sophisticated outfit. But that hasn’t prevented them from maintaining a direct line… |

Lifeline $1.74 Eight albums in just over a dozen years: validation that Ben Harper–mind or body–rarely rests, be it on the road with backing jam band the Innocent Criminals or buried in a studio, where the gifted singer-songwriter lays down his brand of peace-chanting, love-tilting music. His latest is lighter on the rock, with a greater emphasis on gospel, blues, and deeply burning soul. Harper isn’t concern… |

Classic Cartoon Favorites, Vol. 4 – Starring Chip ‘n Dale $14.99 The mischievous chipmunks Chip and Dale began as the unnamed rodent-pests in “Private Pluto” (1943); they acquired names in their third film, “Chip an’ Dale” (1947). Although the duo became a mainstay of the Disney shorts during the late ’40s and ’50s, primarily as adversaries for Donald Duck, the characters never quite gelled. Their appearance and the pitch and comprehensibility of their voices c… |
